At Ansa, we’ve spent considerable time thinking about the next generation of observability tooling. Through our thesis work, we identified a severe gap in the software tooling for corporate networks, with teams struggling to clearly understand the health and strength of their infrastructure. While DevOps and platform teams have many solutions to choose from, like Datadog and Grafana, network teams have failed to see similar levels of innovation across their tooling despite increasing levels of network complexity and criticality.
As enterprise companies continued to embrace microservices, multi/hybrid cloud, hybrid work, and IoT/edge computing, the number of connected services that rely on network connectivity has exponentially increased. Furthermore, the number of critical applications that rely on the cloud has also grown. For example, many retailers now rely on connected point-of-sales machines. If that connection is broken due to network issues, these stores are unable to process sales and generate revenue.
The intricate and sprawling web of a corporate network makes proactive action difficult and root cause analysis complex when issues arise. Current network monitoring tooling is riddled with false positives and does not accurately capture what is a priority to remediate vs. what is not. This leaves network engineers with long backlogs of thousands of alerts that are impossible to sift through. Once a problem occurs, today’s enterprises are forced into large conference calls across teams and geographies, riddled with unproductive finger-pointing given the difficulty of isolating where the problem lies amongst many stakeholders. Is it a problem with a regional network, the national network, a local device, a data center, an ISP, a third-party provider, or the application itself? Without a unified understanding of the entire infrastructure, individual teams checking their disparate tooling for problems lengthens the time until a solution is identified and implemented.
Meet Selector, the platform for uniform network visibility and remediation
Selector provides AIOps software to help network teams triage large volumes of alerts, correlate events, accelerate root cause analysis, and proactively mitigate outages. To achieve this, the company provides a flexible platform that ingests various data formats and sources from any relevant team, software, and device. After ingesting the data, Selector intelligently correlates this data into actionable and predictive insights to guide network teams to the alerts that truly matter and provides step-by-step instructions on how to fix the problem, reducing potential downtime from network failure.
In addition to root cause analysis, Selector is able to proactively mitigate outages by utilizing proprietary machine learning models to understand normal operating behavior across specific network devices, moving teams from reactive remediation to proactive action. When atypical behavior arises, Selector can suggest proactive maintenance/replacement of these devices based on the operating data it consolidates, normalizes, and analyzes. For example, if Selector has observed that a specific device model has been experiencing failure or atypical behavior, the platform can notify customers preemptively and share remediation steps to mitigate network downtime.
Selector provides mission critical network observability and remediation software to the largest enterprises across financial services, healthcare, ISPs, retail, tech, and more. We are ecstatic to be joining the board as Series B lead investors, and are excited to help give power back to network engineers worldwide. Network teams no longer need to suffer through alert fatigue and prolonged outage resolutions. Check out the company website and Series B press release to learn more and discover career opportunities.
