The reason legacy infrastructure has persisted is largely structural. Most physical security vendors rely on closed, proprietary hardware architecture, so switching providers requires ripping and replacing every existing camera and device. For organizations with hundreds or thousands of cameras already deployed, this is a non-starter both economically and operationally. The result is a market that is enormously large, deeply fragmented, and long overdue for disruption.
Enter Coram, a provider of AI-powered security that modernizes existing physical security infrastructure without requiring customers to start from scratch
At the core of Coram’s approach is the Coram Point, an AI NVR that is compatible with any IP camera, providing instant access to advanced AI features and making all cameras cloud-connected with a modern, user-friendly interface. Once connected, Coram transforms passive camera infrastructure into an active intelligence layer. Customers can search across all cameras simultaneously in seconds, track people and assets, identify license plates, and detect incidents like firearms, slip-and-falls, or PPE non-compliance in real time. In essence, their AI capabilities democratize footage review by enabling anybody to view from their device.
The approach has certainly resonated with customers. Since its Series A, Coram has grown revenue 4x and now runs in more than 1,500 sites across the U.S. and Canada: schools, hospitals, manufacturers, municipalities, churches, and multi-site enterprises. Coram is used today by all customer sizes, from SMB through Fortune 500 enterprises. At its core, Coram is a computer vision leader, bringing the latest technology to the physical security industry. Countless customers validated their impact, like their ability to reduce typical investigation time from hours to minutes across scenarios like lost luggages at hotels, missing children at zoos, and lost backpacks at schools, among others. Furthermore, customers are able to achieve this at fractions of the cost and time compared to other solutions, with one specific customer mentioning 30% savings and 15-20x less cameras needing to be replaced.
The platform also includes smart access control which automatically pairs every door even with its corresponding video, and emergency management that proactively broadcasts alerts to designated responders with visual verification. As part of their continued investment in AI-powered security operations, Coram is also introducing Deep Investigation which autonomously analyzes video, access events, and visitor activity across cameras, locations, and time, answering complex security and operational questions with evidence attached.
We’re deeply impressed with what Coram has been able to achieve to date, and we’re beyond excited to lead the Series B, investing alongside Battery Ventures, 8VC, UP.Partners, and Mosaic Ventures. With the new round of funding, Coram is aggressively hiring across all their sales offices in New York City, Sunnyvale, Scottsdale, and Lehi.
